Image result for Rivers PDP, APC members continue protestThe last may not yet have been heard about the rerun legislative elections held in Rivers State last weekend.

Though all results of the polls have been announced and some of the elected lawmakers sworn in, political hostilities between the governing PDP and opposition APC in the state, is continuing on the streets of Port Harcourt through protests.

In the build up to rerun legislative Elections, the governing Peoples Democratic Party, PDP launched a media campaign for the redeployment ofsome police officers alleged to be collaborating with the opposition APC to influence the results of the polls.

During the rerun, PDP also blamed some police officers for the recorded violence and irregularities in many parts of the state.

But with the elections done with, there is a harvest of protests in Port Harcourt.

One of these was led by Governor Nyesom Wike to the Rivers State Command of the Nigeria police.

Governor Wike observed that the refusal of the police authorities to effect the redeployment of certain senior police officers from the State for alleged misconduct may lead to a further breakdown of law and order.

Barely 24 hours after the PDP protest, members of the APC also stormed the streets of Port Harcourt.

The appreciable crowd in their thousands marched from the APC secretariat in old GRA Port Harcourt to the police command headquarters on Moscow road.

Their mission they say was to counter allegations by the PDP.

The APC protest train was also at the state Headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

For now, the Rivers State Police command and the state INEC have promised to convey the demands of the protesting groups to their headquarters in Abuja respectively.
