Reps committed to strengthening petroleum industry – Dogara

The Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives says the lower chamber is committed to strengthening enabling laws governing the operations of the petroleum industry.

Yakubu Dogara spoke through the Deputy Chief Whip, Pally Iriase at a public hearing on three bills including that seeking to establish the National Oil and Gas Research Centre in Oloibiri, Bayelsa state.

Others are a bill to amend the deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production sharing contracts Act.

Dogara believes the economy can be rejuvenated if anomalies in the sector are corrected through enabling laws.
