The Delta State Police Command has rescued four kidnap victims who were abducted while travelling in a vehicle.
According to the public relations officer of the Delta State Police Command, Brught Efafe, five armed men suspected to be kidnappers blocked the Ewu–Ajekuta Road and abducted four occupants of a Toyota Sienna vehicle.
Following a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer in Otu-Jeremi immediately mobilised operatives. Working alongside sister security agencies and members of the Ewu community, the Police launched a coordinated pursuit.
The effort paid off, as all four victims were rescued unhurt and taken to a hospital for medical attention. Two expended 7.5 millimetre ammunition were recovered at the scene, while a manhunt is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.
In a separate operation, operatives of the Ibusa Division, acting on credible intelligence, raided a suspected cult meeting at Anioma Garden in Ugboli Quarters, Ibusa, on February third.
One suspect, identified as Michael Ayauze, was arrested during the raid. Preliminary investigations revealed he is a member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity.
Items recovered from the suspect include one English Beretta pistol, one live round of ammunition, and assorted charms. Other suspects reportedly escaped and are currently being trailed by the Police.
The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Aina Adesola, has reassured residents of the Command’s resolve to deal decisively with kidnapping, cultism, and other violent crimes, while urging members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies with useful information.
