The Kogi State Police Command has arrested Charity Williams, a 23-year-old lady, who was found in possession of ₦2,047,500, hard drugs, and a locally made Beretta pistol.

According to the Command, operatives attached to the Okene Division in Okene Local Government Area arrested the suspect at a hotel in the area.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), William Aya, said officers, acting on a tip-off, raided the hotel and arrested the suspect. He added that the principal suspect, identified as Christopher Kadiri, is currently on the run.

“During an intelligence-led raid operation, our operatives attached to the Okene Division of the Nigeria Police Force arrested one Charity Williams, aged 23 years, and recovered one locally made Beretta pistol, the sum of ₦2,047,300, six rounds of 9mm live ammunition, hard drugs, an axe, and four phones.

“This followed intelligence that a suspected criminal was sighted at Yuwander Lodge, alleged to be a criminal hideout in Oguda village, Okene.

“Immediately, the police swung into action and raided the lodge. Upon searching one of the rooms booked by one Christopher Kadiri, a lady named Charity Williams, aged 23 years, was arrested, and the above exhibits were recovered from the room,” the statement read.

Aya said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect, while investigations continue.

In a related development, the police spokesman revealed that operatives attached to the Ofu Division recovered one locally made barrel gun at Ogbakpedo village, a location notorious for kidnapping activities along the Itobe–Anyigba road.

He explained: “This followed a tip-off that some persons suspected to be kidnappers were sighted in the bush. Immediately, the patrol team moved to the scene, but on sighting the police, the suspects fled. A search of the area led to the recovery of one locally made barrel gun, a cutlass, a Tecno phone, and other items.”
