Image result for Osun market women protest against introduction of weighing scaleMarket women in Osun state staged a peaceful protest in Osogbo on Thursday against the enforcement of the use of weighing scale recently introduced by the State Government.

The market women who all held their old traditional measuring tool popularly called “Kongo”, said the use of weighing scale should start in various farm markets from where they all buy their goods.

Addressing the protesters, Special Adviser to the Governor on Commerce, Femi Popoola reiterated that the introduction of weighing scale is in the interest of all stakeholders, noting that the protest demonstrates their need for education and enlightenment.

Popoola added that the introduction of weighing scale in Osun markets will benefit both the sellers and buyers.
