A United Kingdom court will today deliver its sentencing on the Organ Harvesting case involving Nigeria’s former deputy president of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, his wife, Beatrice and their middle, doctor Obinna.
The trio have been earlier found guilty of the organ harvesting law in February and are the court is expected to pronounce its sentencing today.
The Ekweremadus were found guilty of illegally procuring an organ harvesting donor, which runs against the laws in United Kingdom.
Experts have said the legislator may be sentenced to an average of 30 years depending on the discretion of the presiding judge.
Meanwhile, the ECOWAS parliament, Nigerian Senate, the International Human Rights Commission, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission and former president Olusegun Obasanjo have appealed for mercy in sentencing the couple.
