Ondo PDP faults court verdict on Ibrahim

jimoh-ibrahim-1-680x365_cThe People’s Democratic Party in Ondo State has declared that the Abuja High Court ruling last Friday, which  fueled rummor  of a change in the PDP candidate in the state’s November 26th gubernatorial election has nothing to do with Eyitayo Jegede SAN, being the  party’s candidate in the coming election.

The party  submitted that the case which produced the ruling recorded “some drama of the absurd.”

A statement issued by the State’s Publicity Secretary  of the  PDP, Banji Okunomo deflated  speculation that  businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim, had been given the party’s governorship ticket courtesy of the  Friday’s court ruling in Abuja.

Okunomo, said the rumour was fuelled by lack of necessary legal interpretation of the ruling that was granted by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

He explained that  neither Jegede nor  Jimoh Ibrahim, was party to the suit that has so far yielded two rulings from the same court.

He noted that the widespread noise generated by the suit to the effect that his Jegede’s ticket had been given to Jimoh Ibrahim was grossly misplaced.

He added that  this action by the lower court was at variance with numerous decisions of the Supreme Court that it is only the National Executive of a political party that has the responsibility to submit names of candidates to the INEC.
