The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has charged the NYSC Information and Public Relations Officers to use the Scheme’s Social Media handles to create content that is appealing to Corps Members, Corps Producing Institutions, Parents and other Stakeholders.
In a Wednesday statement signed by Caroline Embu, NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, the DG stated this while interacting with participants at the 2025 NYSC Information and Public Relations, Protocol, Freedom of Information and Media Officers Workshop held in Abuja.
Nafiu advised them to create contents that would sustain the interest of youths and at the same time generate revenue, and boost the Scheme’s image.
He further enjoined the officers to be more proactive in information management and news dissemination.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Director, Media Department, Mr Emeka Mgbemena said the theme of the workshop “Building Capacity of NYSC Public Relations Officers for Strategic Communication and Reputation Management” was carefully chosen to guide the improvement of the participants especially in new strides for sustained positive image of the NYSC.
He said the workshop was packaged to refresh and equip the participants with the latest strategies for managing information, engaging various publics, and effectively projecting the policies, programmes, and achievements of the Scheme.
“I encourage all participants to take full advantage of this opportunity to update your knowledge, share ideas, and embrace modern trends in public relations practice”, he said.
The Director appealed to the workshop participants to deploy the knowledge gained for better management of the image of the Scheme, wether in Public Relations, Protocol, Media Operations, or Freedom of Information Administration.
