The United States said it will no longer issue visas to foreigners who want to give birth in the country.
According to a statement released by the office of the Press secretary, the rule will be effective from Friday, January 24.
The White House Press Secretary, Stephanie Grisham, said the rule change is necessary to enhance public safety and the integrity of the immigration system.
The U.S said the move will also reduce the burden on valuable hospital resources.
US President Donald Trump has made restricting immigration a top priority of his administration and has threatened in the past to abolish birthright citizenship.
