The Kogi State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the seizure of over three hundred kilograms of assorted hard drugs in the month of August alone.
State Commander of the NDLEA, Umar Yahuza, disclosed in a statement that the confiscated drugs included Cannabis sativa and various psychotropic substances.
Yahuza further revealed that the Command intercepted several shipments of hard drugs being transported through Kogi State to other parts of the country.
He explained that, acting on credible intelligence, the Command conducted raid operations in the Elugu-Egugu forest in Olamaboro Local Government Area, where officers arrested two suspects and destroyed more than seven hectares of cannabis farms.
According to him, these achievements were made possible through enhanced intelligence operations, in line with the directives of the Agency’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Retired Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa.
The Commander added that the Command has also carried out a series of sensitization campaigns across the state, targeting worship centers, motor parks, schools, and in collaboration with NGOs, to educate the public on the dangers of drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
