The Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers, Kaduna Chapter, has highlighted Nigeria’s potential as a green energy powerhouse.

At its 3rd annual workshop, experts emphasized the critical role of lithium and other strategic minerals in driving the Nations shift to clean energy.

Mining engineers and stakeholders converge on Kaduna to discuss strategies for harnessing Nigeria’s mineral wealth.

Presentations focus on sustainable mining, community engagement, and investment opportunities in critical minerals like lithium, a—key components in renewable energy technologies.

They also explore the economic opportunities tied to lithium which power electric vehicles and renewable energy storage systems.

Experts believe Nigeria’s untapped lithium reserves in states like could attract global investors, create jobs, and advance industrialisation.

However, they caution that proper management is essential to ensure equitable benefits for local communities.

As the world moves towards net-zero emissions, Nigeria’s strategic minerals position the country as a vital player in the global green energy revolution.
