Lasun urges large scale farming to end recession

Image result for Yusuf LasunUnless Nigeria produces at least 70 per cent of what she consumes locally, the problem of foreign exchange will still persist.

The deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuf stated this while speaking with journalists after donating three tractors to farmers in the state.

Yusuf said available records have shown that Nigeria spends #2.5 trillion which is equal to 78 million dollars on importation of rice and other food items annually, thereby putting pressure on foreign exchange.

The deputy speaker said the trend must be reversed through large scale farming to ensure that Nigeria can feed itself and also export excess.

He said the federal government is now serious about agriculture and urged political office holders to give back to their constituencies and encourage extensive farming.
