TVC N. The Lagos State government has unveiled another free Wifi/Internet facility at Muri-Okunola Park, Victoria Island in commemoration of the Lagos@50 celebrations and to enable citizens gain access to the internet for information on activities going on within the State, the Country and around the World.

Speaking at the unveiling of the Free Wi-Fi/Internet access facility, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode said that the initiative was kick-started two weeks ago at the popular Ndubisi Kanu Park, Alausa, Ikeja, adding that it will be extended to other parks and gardens in the State to further enhance social/leisure activities.

The Governor, who was represented at the event by State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr. Olufemi Odubiyi restated the present administration’s continued commitment to making the State livable for all and sundry through various programmes and projects.

In his words, “Parks and Gardens are established to provide a conducive environment for recreation and relaxation activities. As you relax and enjoy the recreational facilities in these parks, we are making it possible for you to access your mail, browse and search the internet on your tablets, smartphones and laptops via a reliable public Wi-Fi”.

Emphasising the importance of communication in our daily lives, Ambode reiterated that “We cannot underestimate the importance of internet access in our daily activities. It is an enabler in modern society and the efforts of the administration in providing free Wi-Fi is to make the State work for all and sundry”.

He pointed out that one of the biggest benefits of offering free Wi-Fi was that it would provide new ways for the public to enhance social activities and as such encourage more patronage to the parks, gardens and designated recreational facilities across the state.
