A protest by members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, who are commonly known as Shi’ites, caused a serious traffic gridlock in the central business district of Abuja.
The protesters are pressing for the release of the leader Ibrahim Elzakzaky who has been in the custody of the secret police since his arrest in December 2015.
His followers fear that their leader may die as a result of his failing health.
