Correspondent Owolabi Adenusi reports that fglagging off the exercise in Gombi, one of the affected councils, Director General, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Maihaja said President Muhammadu Buhari is concerned about the plight of the beneficiaries.

Maihaja, who was represented by Slaku Lugard, head of federal government food distribution in Adamawa, said the development was part of federal government’s food intervention scheme to communities affected by insurgency.

He said the scheme was aimed at alleviating the hardship being experienced by the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) host communities.

In his remarks, Bashir Garga, NEMA coordinator, in Adamawa and Taraba States said more than 40,000 households would benefit and that about 206 trailers of assorted food items would be distributed in the communities.

He listed the beneficiary areas to include Gombi, Hong, Maiha, Mubi South, Mubi North, Michika and Madagali.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to TVC News thanked the federal government for the gesture. They said the intervention would go a long way in alleviating their sufferings and promised not to sell the commodities.

Event watchers applauded the efforts of federal government for bringing succour to the returnees in the affected local governments since most of them are farmers and are yet to resume their farming activities for fear of
being attacked by the remnant of the dread group still lurking around.
