The Rivers State of Assembly has disclosed that impeaching the State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, is the only solution of the political crisis in the State.
The Assembly disclosed this in a press conference in Port Harcourt Rivers.
Members said they are proceeding with the impeachment proceedings against the governor and his deputy.
They thanked President Tinubu for his fatherly role in trying to resolve the crisis but added that governor Fubara is recalcitrant.
The House of Assembly members including the initially remorseful four members who appealed against the move said the governors has not shown any reason for them to back down.
They said his removal and that of his deputy will avert a breakdown of law and order in the State.
They quoted copiously from the Supreme Court judgment on the crisis in the State House of Assembly adding that the State is virtually without a government.
Groups within the State have also added their voice to the issue with an Ijaw group concurring that the governor and his deputy’s continued stay in office is a threat to peace and stability.
