A group of Nigerians is canvassing citizen awareness towards creating a just and right society by doing things the right way regardless of status and the challenges being faced in the society.

This was the consensus at a gathering tagged “Do the Right Thing Summit, in Abuja.

In the nation’s early days, patriotism was the norm and the nation’s interest superseded any individual or group’s concerns.

But that has been eroded over the years.

Today, favoritism, nepotism and corruption are some of the vices that have reshaped the Nigeria’s history; plunging the country into deep economic crisis.

In the midst of numerous challenges, many citizens see the nation’s cup as half empty, rather than half full.

The campaign tagged ‘Do The Right Thing’ is to awaken the patriotism in every citizen such that everyone, irrespective of class and status, does what is right no matter whose ox is gored.

The Central message is that every Nigerian must be the change he or she desires

Other speakers describe the summit as a testament to collective dedication to doing what is right, even in the face of adversity or skepticism.

Like the Convener, they appeal to the conscience of the individual citizen for support

The summit was attended by students from various schools in the nation’s capital as a way of catching them young.

The summit themed “Being The Right Leader” is aimed at reorienting existing and new generations on the right value system. It hopes to chart a new course in managing indiscipline as well as stimulate effective and transformative leadership.
