After months of anticipation, the 2026 FIFA World Cup will kick off on Thursday, June 11, with one of the host nations, Mexico, taking on South Africa in Mexico City, as the 48-team tournament begins its group stage across venues including the United States and Canada.

As excitement builds ahead of the competition, FIFA, in 2025, unveiled the official AI-powered “Trionda” ball by Adidas for the 2026 World Cup.

The Adidas Trionda, meaning ‘three waves’, was released at a retail price of £119 ($160), designed to help match officials as much as players, with interior technology informing offside and handball decisions.

It’s painted white, red, blue, and green, which celebrate the colours of the host nations, the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and is reminiscent of the 2014 Brazuca.

The competition, which for the first time features 12 groups of four teams each, will run through the end of June before the knockout rounds begin.
