The federal government has commenced implementation of reduced visa application fees for citizens of the United States of America.
The slashed visa application charges for citizens of the United states is from one hundred and eighty dollars to one hundred and sixty dollars.
The former amount comprised $160 as visa fee and $20 as processing and expedient fees.
In a memo dated February 5th, the comptroller-general of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, directed all Nigerian missions in the US to immediately implement the new visa charges payable by US citizens, and “discontinue charging processing or expedient fees”.
The memo is based on a review of the US visa reciprocity policy for Nigeria.
Recall that In August 2019, the US increased the cost of visa application for Nigerians, saying the measure was taken to reciprocate the extra visa fee the Nigerian government charges American citizens.
