Ferrari impressed in pre-season testing and were expected to mount a tougher challenge to Mercedes in the 2019 season than the previous years, But a string of disappointing performances and car failures have gifted Mercedes a record start in the championship with the team’s duo of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas finishing as the top two in each of the first four grands prix of the season to date.
Bottas leads the standings ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix with 87 points, with Lewis Hamilton on 86 and Ferrari’s Vettel in third spot, with 52 points.
