Enugu state govt. signs $303M MoU with Africa Medical City

Africa Medical City and Enugu State Government have signed a 303 million Dollars Memorandum of Understanding to construct international standard Medical city in the state.

The signing was witnessed by the state Governor, Peter Mbah .

A study conducted in Nigeria among individuals who have engaged in medical tourism and those who were about to go for medical tourism in Nigeria shows that 40.2% strongly agree that poor medical treatment in the home country is the reason for medical tourism

A survey by Nigeria Central Bank revealed that the country spent about $7.43m (about N8.3bn) on foreign healthcare-related services between June 2022 and June 2023.

To many, this strategic partnership aims to bridge the gap And enhance healthcare services and infrastructure within Enugu State and Africa.

The project will ensuring accessible, high-quality medical care for all people in Nigeria and on the continent.

Chairman of the group, Etebot Nwanegbo explained that the partnership will focus on the development of a state-of-the-art medical facility, comprehensive healthcare programs, and community health initiatives for the well-being of the population.

The state governor, Peter Mbah assured his government’s committee members will provide enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

Key components of the MoU include:
Construction of Africa Medical City: A cutting-edge medical facility equipped with modern technology and staffed by skilled healthcare professionals.
