About 1200 rice farmers have become beneficiaries of the Enugu state distribution of improved rice seedling to enhance their food production, through modern Agriculture practices.

At the maiden episode, each farmer went home with bags of free FARO 44 seedlings , with the ability to move their production capacity from 3 – 6 tonnes per hectare.

The Government policy to diversify the country’s earnings from being a mono economy, has left many sub nationals to invest in agriculture as a way to stop relying on Federal Allocation which is largely funded from Oil proceeds

Rice consumption is on the high demands on staple food scale, but the challenges of not being introduced to modem farming techniques limits its country production capacity.

Low output and lack of proper information to expose farmers to modern techniques are identified as the challenge.

In an effort to bridge the gap, the Enugu state government launched the distribution of improved rice seedling to genuine farmers to mitigate the low production problems.

The project aims to address sub-optimal rice production and transform Adani rice to a staple crop processing zone in Uzuwani council area.

The elated beneficiaries recount difficulties encounter and how the new improved rice seedling will shore up their production capacity.

The project targets 2500 genuine large scale farmers, with expectation of moving from 600 metric tonnes they have been struggling with to over a million metric tonnes in each rice farming season.
