Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered the transfer of officers seen in a viral “stop-and-search” video to the Force Headquarters in Abuja to face disciplinary actions.
The directive follows widespread public outrage over footage showing police officers allegedly harassing civilians during a roadside stop-and-search operation at the Abule-Ado Bus Stop along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, Lagos.
The trending video captured some police officers stopping a vehicle and ordering the occupants to step out, and taking them some metres away from their parked vehicle to search their bags.
The video was posted on Saturday by an X user identified as @ChuksEricE, who claimed a young man shared a video of his encounter with some police officers in Lagos State.
