Governor of Taraba state Darius Ishaku has stated that about 22,000 people will benefit from a World Bank/ Federal Government COVID-19 stimulus package.

Taraba State was considered for the programme after the World Bank had reviewed and assessed her and confirmed that all conditions for participation were in place.

Governor Ishaku stated this at the opening of the capacity building workshop for technical staff of the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus, (NG-CARES) programme in Jalingo.

Solomon Elisha, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, said the training was necessary to provide stakeholders with the knowledge they need to complete their tasks successfully.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on all aspects of the Taraba state economy.

Government, individuals, and corporations are still counting losses incurred during the pandemic’s peak.

There is now some relief for those affected thanks to a program jointly designed by the Federal Government and the World Bank to cushion the economic impact of the pandemic.
