The catholic community says it will contest the outcome of an international Conference on Population where Contraception, abortion and Transgender were projected as global rights of women.

They say the resolutions are against the Catholic Faith.

2019 marks the 25th anniversary of the ground breaking International Conference on Population and Development which took place in Cairo in 1994.

At that conference, 179 governments adopted a Programme of Action, which set out to empower women and girls for their sake, and for the benefit of their families, communities and nations.

The 2019 summit Co-convened by the governments of Kenya and Denmark aims to mark a watershed for women and girls everywhere.

The Catholic Bishop Conference of Nigeria is objecting to the summit saying Contraception, abortion and transgenderism were projected as global rights of women.

Here, the Church and society department of the Catholic Secretariat of nigeria are joining forces with the Catholic bishops to resist the outcome.

They want the Nigerian government to hold fast to the pristine values which distinguish the traditional African community respect for life, family and human dignity.

They call on the Nigerian government and development partners to support the promotion of scientific natural family planning methods and natural reproductive technologies.
