The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) questioned former House Committee on Appropriations chairman, Abdulmumin Jibrin for five hours yesterday over the N284billion budget padding claim.
The budget padding accusation which stunned the House of Representatives last year has returned to the front burner as Jibrin unveiled more details during cross-examination by the EFCC.
The “fresh insights” were described as “startling” by sources, according to a report by The Nation Newspapers.
Jibrin is the first lawmaker to be cross-examined in the initial phase of the investigation which commenced with 13 persons.
About 50 members of the House have been nominated for questioning including four principal officers.
