Image result for Bayelsa govt doesn't touch LGA funds - CommissionerThe Bayelsa State Government says it does not tamper with funds meant for the eight council areas from the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee.

Giving the clarification was the state’s Commissioner For Local Government, who says the London Paris Club Refund was handled by the local governments in line with the financial autonomy that the third tier of government should enjoy.

Correspondent Ovieteme George reports that a drop in the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee took its toll on states in the country, including the Local Government Areas.

In Bayelsa the council areas are still owing staff after payment of fifty percent of their salaries before the monthly allocation from FAAC appreciated.

The State government is unhappy about reports from certain quarters that it is tampering with funds meant for the Local Government Areas.

The Local Government Commissioner and the State Secretary of the Association of Local Government Chairmen throw more light on why the councils are still owing workers.

Appreciating Labour Unions in the State and Local Governments, Agatha Goma says the policy of ” No Work – No Pay ” is meant to sanitize the civil service and not to witch-hunt anyone.
