Attacks on Villages in Mangu Council Area of Plateau state by gunmen have continued unabated.

It is now day three since the attack on villages that have left over eighty persons dead.

The number of fatalities is still rising in the 24 villages affected and attacks have not yet been brought under control despite efforts by the authorities.

The killings and burning of properties belonging to the natives continue unabated, even in broad daylight.

Our correspondent in Plateau State, Funom Joshua, visited one of the attacked villages and filed this reports.

There may not be a quick end to the attacks on the villages in the Mangu Council area, which have so far resulted in the deaths of roughly 85 residents, including women and children.

The killing and burning of properties across villages in the local government area have continued unabated over the past three days.

The perpetrators are said to have been calling and sending messages to locals, threatening they would bring Mangu local government area to its knees.

The presence of security operatives deployed since Tuesday midnight in the council area is felt only within the state capital and not in the affected areas, as claimed by leaders of the community.

A mass grave site was located where 32 locals killed in Kantoma and Mangul communities are buried.

While in Mangu, to assess the level of havoc brought to the community by the invaders, TVC Crew were advised to leave immediately as the perpetrators had just invaded a neighboring village, burning and looting properties belonging to the locals.

A church and several houses are still in flames, as at the time TVC News Crew arrived, the area was set ablaze by the invaders Wednesday evening.

The locals are fleeing the villages at the moment with the remnants of their properties, following threats of further attack by the perpetrators.

We proceeded to one of the internally displaced camps hosting women and children displaced by the invasion to see how they are coping.

The state government has yet to provide relief items for the victims since the attack in the area.

The locals are appealing to the authorities to come to their aid following the threats they have received from the perpetrators.
