5,317 students benefit from 2017/2018 OSOPADEC bursary awards

Students from the oil producing communities of Ondo State have been advised to shun unnecessary agitations and militancy under any guise. This was at the flag-off of payment of 2017/2018 Scholarship and Bursary to students by the the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission in the mandate areas.

A total of 5,317 students of Nigerian tertiary institutions and indigenes of oil producing areas of Ondo state, were screened to benefit from the 2017/2018 Scholarship and Bursary Awards.

Out of this figure, a total of 1,522 students benefited from the scholarship scheme, while 3,549 students received bursary awards.

While presenting cheques to the beneficiaries, the Chairman of Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, OSOPADEC, Gbenga Edema urged them to use the money judiciously.

He said the gesture is a way of assisting the students to complete their studies.

He noted that those who benefited from the programme were carefully screened, urging them to shun unnecessary agitation.

Over 244 Million naira is to be disbursed to the students through electronic payment, while post-graduate students will be paid by cheques.
