More than two thousand Nigerian women will benefit from the Future Assured Programme, designed to empower women and get them actively involved in economic activities.
The initiative is a brainchild of wife of the President, Aisha Buhari.
Kareemah Salami reports that the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari accompanied by wives of the vice president, Senate President and Speaker, were warmly received by the Deputy governor of lagos, Idiat Adebule.
Also in the welcome party were wives of the Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Edo, Imo states governors and committee of wives of Lagos state officials (COWLSO).
They headed straight to Lagos police college, the venue for the flag off ceremony of the second phase of ‘training for women in income generating activities”.
The initiative is a collaboration between the national directorate of employment (NDE) and future assured programme, the brainchild of Hajiya Aisha Buhari.
Mrs Buhari disclosed the idea is the fulfillment of a promise she made in September the 10th in Katsina.
She advised participant to show commitment during training as this will help them to be self reliant
Other speakers share their thoughts on the “Future Assured” programme.
Aisha Buhari charged the participants to ensure they acquire the needed skills as it is the vehicle out of unemployment and poverty.
