Zambia’s opposition United Party for National Development, says it will hold street protests, to signify the month-long incarceration of its leader Hakainde Hichilema.
The march planned for next week in Lusaka, according to the party’s secretary general, Stephen Katuka, will be peaceful, adding that the UPND has sent a notice to Lusaka Province Police boss on the plan.
And according to him, about 200 party members will take to the streets, for the protest walk planned to start from the party’s secretariat.
Earlier in the week, a magistrate court granted Hichilema bail, but he still has to defend himself before a higher court in Lusaka for treason.
