Zamfara state Police Command has promised to enforce the new security measures announced by the state Government aimed at addressing the rising cases of Banditry and kidnapping in the state.
The Zamfara State Government had over the weekend suspended sales of Petroleum products in Jerrycans, banned motorcycle and tricycle movement between 6 and 8 o’clock in the evening.
The ban also affected movement of cattle, beverages and some selected food items in and outside the state without security verification
Authorities in the state attributes the Resurgence of Banditry to the activities of those aiding the bandits by supplying them with food stuff, beverages and Petroleum products to use in their motorcycles to attack communities and set food banks and other valuable items ablaze
To stop the trend, the Zamfara state Police Command at a press conference held at its headquarters in Gusau, vow to enforce with full compliance the new directives but with respect for human rights of citizens.
The state Commissioner of Police Ayuba Elkana said only those on essential services are exempted.
He warned security operatives who would use the period of the restriction of movement for commercial poses on the road to desist as they will also be arrested dealt with accordingly
CP Elkana adds that the new measures is not aimed hurting the populace but stem the tide of Insecurity which has negatively affected all aspects of life in Zamfara and other neighbouring states.
The police urges Residents to comply with the new directives as anyone found guilty will be made to face the full wrath of the law
