Troops of Operation Awatse have said they will continue to carry out their operation, code named,’KORUMBE’ which literally means clearance in Lagos and Ogun state, especially in Epe and Ogun waterside, based on the rules of engagement, to curb criminal activities.
The troops say residents in those areas should remain calm, as they clamp down on pipeline vandals, disrupting the distribution of petroleum products.
A statement issued by the troops says from the early hours of December 21st 2019 to date, they have been dislodging desperate pipeline vandals from the NNPC facility at the Atlas Cove and its environs, in Lagos.
During the raid, devices which include fabricated Pipes and multiple hoses, connected to over 300 points of NNPC pipelines, were discovered and dismantled.
The troops allegedly discovered that some foreigners who could not give reasons for their presence there, were colluding with the pipeline Vandals to siphon fuel to neighbouring countries.
That discovery led to the pulling down of suspicious shanties, in the area.
