Officials of the Anti-Encroachment Task Force of the Ondo State Ministry of Natural Resources have arrested seven Indian hemp cultivators in possession of twenty bags of the substance.
The suspects, according to the state Commissioner for Natural Resources, Rasheed Badmus will be handed over to drug enforcement officials for prosecution.
Battling with constant encroachment on government forest reserves has become a big problem for successive administrations in Ondo state.
Many people always encroach upon forest reserves to plant food crops and Indian hemp.
The commissioner added that it would no longer be business as usual for economic saboteurs in the state.
One of the suspects did not see anything wrong with the business.
He says the business is far better than kidnapping and other criminal acts.
