The newly elected chairmen and vice chairmen for the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State have officially been sworn into office.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administered the oath of office to the officials during a ceremony held on Sunday at the Lagos House in Ikeja.
Their emergence follows the local government elections conducted across the state on July 12, 2025.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Bolaji Robert, extended his congratulations to the newly inaugurated council chairmen and vice chairmen.
The credibility of your emergence, anchored on transparency and broad-based support, is what has culminated in the swearing-in exercise we are gathered here to witness today,” he said.
Robert also commended Sanwo-Olu for promoting grassroots democracy, noting that his leadership ensured the implementation of all necessary measures for a peaceful, transparent, and credible local government election.
