Image result for Electricity: Biogbolo residents want PHEDC to obey court orderAn attempt to disconnect electric power lines from Biogbolo community created a mild drama in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital.

Defying a court order to restore power to the area, some staff of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company had gone to disconnect more lines, but were challenged by residents of the area.

A near-chaotic scene eventually led to a forced reconnection of all the lines following the intervention of the Bayelsa State Police Commissioner.

TVC News Correspondent Ovieteme George reports some residents of Biogbolo community had in January last year went to a Yenagoa Magistrate Court with a prayer to compel the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company to provide Pre-paid Metres and also to stop the company from issuing estimated bills.

The court then ordered the electricity company to restore power in the area in August this year pending the determination of the case.

Friday, September 1st, 2017, just a day after the last meeting in court, staff of the PHEDC were at the New Road area of Biogbolo to disconnect some power lines.

The youth formed a barricade across the road in protest over an alleged breach of a court order.
The reconnection of the power lines is good news to the Biogbolo residents.

The restoration of power supply in Biogbolo is a breath of fresh air to the people who now wait on the court to grant their prayer for the use Pre-paid Metres instead of an estimated billing system.
