The leadership of freight forwarding practitioners and Customs Licensed agents in Nigeria have attributed corruption and non-compliance to trade guidelines as the reason for government’s drastic decision to ban the importation of cars through the land borders.
Indicating support for the policy, they cautioned that government’s hasty enforcement of the policy would lead to massive financial loss for genuine importers whose contract of carriage was generated before the ban.
They are urging government to consider using tariff control among other incentives to encourage importers to patronize the nation’s seaports.
