The Edo State Police Command has provided an on the kidnapping incident which occurred on 9th May at Ogua community on the Benin-Lagos Road.
The command in the statement signed by its spokesperson,Eno Ikoedem, said the 13 people who were abducted in the Young Shall Grow Motors bus after kidnappers attacked with a female passenger also shot have been rescued.

The Police said the passengers who were travelling to Lagos from Akwa Ibom were rescued through a coordinated operation.
It added that following the incident, the Command immediately launched coordinated rescue and bush combing operations, rescuing five (5) passengers (2 adults & 3 children), while remaining on the trail of the kidnappers.

Going further, the command said that on the 10th May, 2026, through the deployment of drones, aerial surveillance, intelligence-driven policing, and sustained technological support, its operatives engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel and successfully rescued two additional passengers.
The Edo State Police Command added that the remaining six abducted passengers have all now been rescued unhurt.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, commended the courage and resilience of the operatives involved in the operation.

He also reassured residents that the Command is not relenting in its efforts as intensive bush combing operations are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators of this crime.
