The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has dismissed a viral recruitment notice making rounds on social media, labeling it as fake and unauthorized.
The widely circulated document, titled “Nigeria Police Force Recruitment Exercise 2025”, falsely claimed that the Force was set to begin a recruitment drive on September 22, 2025.
It invited applications from holders of SSCE, OND, HND, and B.Sc. qualifications across various disciplines and included fabricated eligibility criteria and application procedures.

Among the misleading details, the fake notice claimed that applicants must be Nigerian by birth, possess a valid National Identification Number, and meet specific age brackets 18 to 25 years for SSCE and OND holders, and up to 28 years for those with higher qualifications.
It also outlined physical fitness requirements, including minimum height specifications, and academic prerequisites such as five credits in no more than two sittings, including English and Mathematics.

The document further warned applicants against cultism or association with unlawful groups and stressed the importance of good moral character.
It went on to direct interested candidates to a fake online portal, urging them to submit personal details, academic records, and various supporting documents including birth certificates, certificates of origin, and guarantor declarations.
On Thursday, the Nigeria Police Force took to its verified X handle to discredit the notice, stamping “FAKE” across the image of the document and clarifying that it did not originate from the Force or its management.
In a related development, the Police Service Commission (PSC) also cautioned the public against falling victim to fraudulent recruitment schemes.
In a statement released on August 30, PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani reaffirmed that no official recruitment process for 2025 has begun. He emphasized that any authentic recruitment announcement would be communicated through official channels only.
Ani urged Nigerians interested in joining the police to exercise patience and wait for the official commencement of the recruitment exercise, warning that fake notices such as this one are entirely fictitious and intended to mislead the public.
