A prominent figure in the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Shamusideen Oladiti, widely known as Shameleon, has been arraigned before the Ebute-Meta Magistrate Court in Yaba over the alleged killing of a dispatch rider in Lagos.

Oladiti, 55, is facing a three-count charge of murder, conspiracy, and causing grievous harm, stemming from incidents that occurred on August 27 and September 17, 2025, within the Lagos Island jurisdiction.

According to court documents, Oladiti and several unidentified individuals allegedly assaulted two men, Imam Ramon and Omale Samuel, during a confrontation on Tapa Street, Lagos Island.

The altercation reportedly began after Ramon was accused of scratching Oladiti’s vehicle.

Eyewitnesses claimed the victims were beaten with fists and a helmet. Ramon sustained critical injuries and was taken to Lagos Island General Hospital, where he later died.

The prosecution stated that the charges violate Sections 223, 411, and 245 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

Oladiti pleaded not guilty during his appearance in court.

The presiding Magistrate ordered his remand while awaiting legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
