Related imageA cross-section of the Nigerian Union of teachers in Oyo state took to the streets of Ibadan to call for the removal of the State secretary of the Nigeria Union of teachers, Comrade Waheed Olojede who also doubles as the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour congress.

But another faction loyal to him insists he remains their leader.

Correspondent Olutayo famous Cole reports that with this development, the once fragile peace within the ranks of the labour movement in Oyo State may have suffered a temporary setback. The labour community in the state was the envy of all when it stood its ground against anti workers policies.

The Struggle led by its chairman Comrade Waheed Olojede succeeded in keeping government at bay and protecting the welfare and interest of its
members.

There seems now to be discontent within the various power blocs who want the state secretary of the Teachers union to take a bow after completing
his mandatory 35 years in service and to achieve this, they say they would would go to any length.

Another bloc the Oyo,Ogbomosho, Oke-Ogun divisional educational council and Ibarapa region have the back of the embattled Nigeria Labour Chairman Comrade Waheed Olojede based on his contributions to championing the restatement of a good number of workers sacked by government.

They said they strongly disagree with anyone or group bent on tarnishing the image of their leader.

The teachers say they have explored all avenues to get the attention of the national leadership of the teachers union to do their bidding but both
parties are hell bent to have their voice heard and vowed not to back down.
