A 45-year old palm wine tapper, his 22-year old son and six others are in police net for their complicity in the murder of All Progressives Congress Chieftain, Olumide Odimayo in Ondo state.
The state commissioner of police, Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison, who paraded the suspects before journalists in Akure, said the gruesome murder of the APC chieftain was unfortunate.
The late Odimayo was kidnapped on Thursday, 15th of June in his hometown of Igbotu in Ese-Odo local government area of the state. His body was found a few days later.
The suspects were arrested by policemen from the Ajagba division, with assistance from a local vigilante group.
A father, Francis Bekewei and his son, David were among the eight suspects paraded by the state commissioner of police, Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison.
While the son admitted that he participated in the crime, his father exonerated himself from the devilish act.
The police commissioner who described the incident as unfortunate, said the suspects would be charged to court.
Ibifuro-Harrison expressed confidence that fleeing members of the gang will be arrested in due course.
The body of the late Odimayo has been deposited at a morgue for autopsy.
