Ogun inaugurates Centre for Matrimonial Disputes Resolution

Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Babatunde Ipaye said most challenges in the society are rooted in marital problems.

He said this at the public presentation of readings on matrimonial disputes resolution in Nigeria.

TVC News Ogun State Correspondent, Kazeem Olowe reports that lecturers, Lawyers and Doctors have agreed that the level of crime, mental  illness, emotional and psychological trauma can be reduced drastically if proper attention is paid to matrimonial disputes resolution.

They noted that the number of separations between husbands and wives keep increasing and require urgent attention to mitigate its negative effects on the society.

Speaking about the significance of initiating a project and dedicating a centre for settling matrimonial disputes in Nigeria, the Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Babatunde Ipaye noted that, children from broken marriages may be exposed to crimes and danger, while their parents may also be confronted with emotional and psychological trauma.

On his part, the Vice Chancellor of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, the institution hosting the centre said, aside from being the first in Africa, the centre and the book will help in building homes.

Readings on matrimonial disputes resolution in Nigeria is a compilation of Essays by Scholars in honour of Professor Mojisola Ogungbe for her passion for the legal profession and matrimonial disputes resolution in the country.
