The National Population Commission has appeal to traditional rulers and other stakeholders in Tsafe local government area to redouble their efforts in ensuring success in the ongoing Enumeration Area Demarcation Exercise
Enumeration Area Demarcation Exercise is usually carried out by the commission ahead of any national population Census
The federal commissioner In charge of Zamfara State Muhammadu Muttaka-Rini made the appeal at a sensitization and awareness campaign at the palace of Emir of Tsafe HRH. Muhammadu Bawa
He said the purpose of their visit is to intimate traditional rulers and other stakeholders on the importance of the exercise and seek their support as NPC staff alone cannot do it without the leaders of the community
According to him, data generated from the exercise will be connected to various vital statistics for national development in the area
Muttaka-Rini also urge residents of the state to take the exercise with all seriousness considering its importance for future development
“The Ongoing Enumeration Area Demarcation exercise ahead of the next National Census will also help the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in creating more polling units, wards, local and state as the case may be”
“Every Member of the Community must ensure compliance for the commission to be able to succeed” Muttaka-Rini appealed
He noted that efforts are underway to ensure hard to reach areas are captured in the exercise and communities deserted as a result of Insecurity are included in the Enumeration Area Demarcation Exercise
Responding on behalf of the traditional rulers, the paramount ruler of the area Muhammadu Bawa assured of his continuous support to ensure a hitch free exercise in hs domain
He said, the emirate will set up a committee comprising of traditional and religious leaders to that will educate the people on the importance of the exercise
The traditional ruler further thanked the National Population Commission for doing a wonderful job in reaching out to all communities under his emirate and promise to do the needful in by making sure that NPC Staff enjoy their work in the area.
Community heads and traditional rulers from across all the districts in the emirate were at the sensitization program and have made positive contributions to ensure a stress free exercise
The member representing Tsafe West at the Zamfara state House of Assembly, Sole Administrator of the local, former Commissioners, serving and retired Permanent Secretaries from the local government area also attended the event
This phase of the exercise is the fourteenth and is taking place in Tsafe and Zurmi Local Government Areas.
