The Nigerian Independent System Operator has called on generation companies to provide comprehensive operational data to maintain grid reliability and balance supply with demand.
According to the Tribune, the Chief Executive Officer of NISO, Engineer Abdullahi Mohammed, stated this at the 10th anniversary celebration of the Association of Power Generation Companies, held in Abuja on Tuesday.
During the event, Mohammed called on the GenCos to ensure compliance, maintain accuracy in data submission while also paying attention to performance and maintenance schedules, as he warned APGC against shielding GenCos from regulatory obligations.
According to him, accurate, timely and complete operational data from each generation company is required for NISO to maintain grid reliability and balance supply with demand.

He said, “Each GenCo is individually responsible for ensuring compliance with operational directives from the System Operator, accuracy in data submissions and adherence to performance and maintenance schedules.
“Accurate, timely and complete operational data from each generation company is required for NISO to maintain grid reliability and balance supply with demand. While APGC may coordinate discussions on data-related challenges, each GenCo must provide its data directly to the NISO for system operation and market operation as required by the market rules.
“The Association cannot intermediate or represent members in fulfilling or disputing settlement outcomes, except through collective advocacy for improved processes. The APGC’s advocacy must be constructive, evidence-based, and forward-looking, focusing on systemic improvement rather than seeking group exemptions from regulatory obligations.
“But the Association’s greatest value will always come from the credibility and compliance of its individual members. Let us, therefore, work together to build a Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry that reflects our shared values: discipline, reliability, fairness, and progress.”
