The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted widespread rainfall and thunderstorms across parts of the country from Monday to Wednesday, with a warning of possible flash floods in vulnerable areas.
In its weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, NiMet forecasted morning thunderstorms with moderate rainfall on Monday over parts of Jigawa, Zamfara, Kano, Kaduna, Bauchi, Yobe, and Katsina States in northern Nigeria.
The agency urged residents in these and other affected areas to remain vigilant, noting that localised flash floods are likely in places with poor drainage systems.
NiMet advised members of the public, particularly motorists and outdoor workers, to take necessary precautions as heavy rains could reduce visibility and lead to traffic disruptions or waterlogged roads.
The forecast forms part of NiMet’s regular efforts to keep Nigerians informed of weather patterns and enhance disaster preparedness nationwide.
