Nigeria’s Zamfara state spends N135m to buy books for schools

The Zamfara state Government has spent more than 135 million naira in buying textbooks, and instructional materials for primary schools across the state.

The chairman of the state Universal Basic Education Board, Murtala Adamu Jangebe stated this at an event in Gusau, organised by Teacher Development Programme.

TVC News Correspondent Ibrahim Bello reports that Zamfara state is among the few states in the country that are still educationally backward.

Its state Government and relevant stakeholders in the education sector have taken on the challenge of providing tangible materials to enhance the sector.

Stakeholders also identified lack of infrastructure, remunerations, welfare, training and re-training of teachers as some of the challenges bedeviling educational sector in the state

They commend the state government for taking steps to address the challenges in order to achieve the desire goals.

Part of such steps taken by government is the renovation of some secondary schools in the state so as to provide a conducive atmosphere of learning.

Plans are also underway to reconstructs educational offices across the fourteen local government areas of the state.

On their part, the Teacher Development Programme says relevance of data and technology will enhance educational sector in zamfara state.

Its believed that with regular training and instructional materials put in place the educational sector of the state will improved.
