As Nigeria prepares to celebrate, political gladiators have been asked to focus on developing a Nigerian dream that will be upheld by the young generation.
The call was made at an event mapped out to honour icons of Unity in the Country.
Correspondent Helen Osamede-Akins reports that Nigeria is one Country with diverse cultures,religions, tribes, beliefs as well as political affiliations.
Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country with more than 250 ethnic groups. Over time, the country has faced political, religious, ethnic and community rivalries which has led to destruction of lives and property.
Many say, rather than positively exploit the country’s Diversities, most people especially politicians, now divide the people across different
lines.
As the country marks it’s 59th Independence from colonial rule in a few days, these Nigerians are concerned about the unity of the Country. They want Nigerians to take advantage of its diversity and better position the Country on the world map.
First of October is a day set aside to mark Nigeria’s proclamation of Independence from British rule in 1960.
