The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced a final 48-hour window for tertiary institutions that have yet to complete the student verification process required for the 2024/2025 loan application cycle.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, confirmed that the portal would reopen from 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, to 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14.
According to Oluwatuyi, the decision aims to ensure that “all eligible students were duly captured and verified by their respective institutions” before the application process closes.
“Institutions are strongly advised to make full use of this final opportunity,” she urged.

She warned that institutions failing to complete the verification within the given timeframe would “forfeit participation in the current loan cycle,” which could severely affect students relying on the scheme. “A situation that will regrettably disadvantage their students who are the ultimate beneficiaries of the loan scheme,” she emphasized.
Oluwatuyi also noted that, in a bid to promote “transparency and accountability,” NELFUND would publish the names of institutions that fail to comply.
Reaffirming the agency’s goals, she said NELFUND remains committed to “fostering equitable access to higher education through the efficient, transparent, and inclusive management of the scheme.”
