Nigeria’s national electricity grid has again collapsed, plunging the country into a widespread power outage.

Data released by the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) showed that load allocation to the 11 electricity distribution companies (DisCos) dropped to zero megawatts as of 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

The sudden system failure disrupted electricity supply nationwide, leaving homes, businesses and public institutions without power.

The collapse was also confirmed by some of the Electricity Distribution Companies.

This latest collapse occurred barely five days after a similar grid failure, raising renewed concerns over the stability and reliability of the country’s power infrastructure.
